Trysta is 29 years old and resides in Onion Lake First Nation with her 9 year old son, Kenyan and extended family. Her motivation for joining Women Warriors is to be a good role model for her son, and family which has a history of type II diabetes. She states, “there are too many sick people in our communities, kids being obese and getting diabetes.”
Her health philosophy? “I strongly believe if I balance my mind, body, and spirit I can be happy, and healthy inside and out. If you really want something you can make it happen. Our minds are a powerful thing.”
Her nutrition philosophy? “I wake-up at 5:30/6 am everyday so I can make my meals for the day. I don’t count calories – I enjoy cooking. I take my vitamins and shakes in the morning, and eat 4 meals a day. I drink lots of green tea and peppermint tea.”
Physical activity in her day? Trysta enjoys running, and playing competitive volleyball and basketball. She workouts out at least 60-90 minutes per day, and try to fit in two 120-180 minute workouts per week. Sports played an important role in her life and she just returned to both volleyball and basketball after injuring her arm and needing surgery in which she had a metal bar inserted.
Future goals? Trysta wants to be in the best physical and mental shape of her life for her milestone 30th birthday. Her new challenge is training with her friend, Jo at Muscles & More Bodybuilding and Supplements. She inspires other women by posting healthy, active images and philosophies on her Facebook profile.
Thanks Trysta for inspiring us to get active and maintain balance in our lives!
